Calculating an asset population in a dynamic supply chain is extremely difficult. Obtaining accurate data and then turning that into actionable information is no mean feat. At Visibility we specialise in helping companies such as brewers calculate their asset populations which enables them to:
Plan for the future
Identify the required size of fleet
Calculate the value of the fleet
Accurate financial treatment - depreciation, asset valuation
How does Visibility help me calculate my asset population?
The solution enables you to locate containers in various areas of the supply chain by tracking their movements using technology enables such as barcode or UHF RFID tags.In order to obtain a truly accurate picture of your container population, ideally 100% of your containers would be tracked. Read more about our asset tracking technologies.
Do I need to track each individual container to understand population?
In a word, no. Obviously if you require the entire population to be calculated at 100% accuracy, you will need to tag or barcode each and every individual container. However, Visibility have undertaken a in-depth statistical study, with real data collected over many years resulting in us partially tagging fleets to achieve a 95% confidence rate - this has an extremely positive effect on your business when it comes to population calculation and achieves our customers objectives. How long does it take to implement and tag my container fleet?
This depends on a) the number you wish to tag and b) the current cycle times of your fleet which will determine the intervals we are able to tag at. We are able to provide tagging/coding services either at manufacture or at your facility or supply your team with training, process validation and equipment so that you are able to integrate this into your current and future operations.
How long does it take before I receive actionable data?
Visibility suggest that it would take two full average cycles to elapse before you are able to begin to realise true value from the data. For example if you think your average cycle time is 8 weeks, we would suggest that after two of these estimated cycles, we should be in a position to start to interpret behaviours.
How would this information assist in my financial treatment of my assets?
The solution enables you to operate your business with more control. Your NBV (Net Book Value) can be confirmed, purchases are based on proven scientific methods and are not knee jerk reactions managed, as are divestments and reallocations.
Can I track other assets?
Absolutely. the team at VisibiliTy have been in supply chain for many years and we have experience with a variety of assets from rollcages, tote-boxes, pallets, right through to individual consignments.
